Overall Opinion:
There’s not a whole lot I like about Hey Girl Cleanse, so I gave it 2 out of 5 stars.
I would’ve ranked it 1 out of 5, but they have a good money back guarantee, so there’s really no risk in trying this detox tea out.
This detox tea is packed with laxatives. It has 4 laxative ingredients in it… that’s SO many! One of them is Senna Leaf, which is extremely harsh on my body. It makes me use the restroom so frequently that it becomes very unhealthy.
I did lose a little bit of water weight while using this tea, but I immediately gained it all back after I was finished with this cleanse. Like I said, laxatives aren’t a healthy way to lose weight.
If I were backed up or constipated, I may drink a glass of this to get things moving. But using it for 10 straight days is just too many.
It tastes ok, not the best, not the worst. It has a hint of sweetness, but mostly tastes like olive juice. And I could really taste the fennel seed in there.
You only need to take it once a day before bed, which makes it pretty easy to use.
But overall, for the price and the results, I don’t think this detox tea is worth it.
Detailed Opinion:
Ease of Use
Hey Girl Cleanse is a loose-leaf detox tea. This tea doesn’t come with an infuser like some do, so if you don’t have one, you’ll need to get one before using this tea.
The directions say to use one heaping teaspoon and steep for 5-10 minutes before drinking.
While steeping, some stems and tea particles managed to escape the infuser and were floating around my tea. I never find that too appetizing when that happens.
You’re directed to use this tea after dinner or before bedtime, which I found very easy to do. And you only need to drink one cup per day, which is nice.
Taste
Hey Girl Cleanse tastes okay. It has a hint of sweetness, but to me it kind of tasted like olive juice. You can definitely taste the fennel in there.
To me, this tea was on the bland side; it wasn’t too flavorful.
For those of you who like a weaker tasting tea, you may be okay with it.
Ingredient Analysis
This detox tea contains 4 laxatives… yes 4!! The first one is Senna Leaf, my least favorite ingredient. Senna is a harsh laxative that will help you lose weight (but not the healthy way). I always feel like crap when I drink teas with Senna in them. Not to mention, I run to the bathroom every few hours. It’s not a fun experience.
The other three laxative ingredients are Burdock Root, Sarsparilla, and Dandelion Leaf. These are all gentler than Senna, but when combined with Senna, they pack a good punch. Needless to say, 4 laxatives are way too many for one detox tea.
Hey Girl Cleanse also contains Honey Bush, which is an ingredient I’ve never seen before in a detox tea. After a little research, I found that Honey Bush is said to help boost your immune system and also help with inflammatory diseases.
Results
In my opinion, this tea doesn’t help you lose weight the healthy way. Yes, I lost a little bit of water weight while using it, but I gained it all back immediately after stopping this cleanse. Using a laxative to lose weight isn’t healthy for your body as it becomes very dehydrated and loses nutrients.
So while I did lose a few pounds of water weight, I gained it all back (and then some), after I stopped this tea. That was a big letdown, although I kind of expected it due to it containing so many laxatives.
This tea is caffeine free, so it didn’t give me any energy, which I definitely needed while drinking Hey Girl Cleanse. My body felt very exhausted from how often I was using the restroom and from all the water and nutrients my body was losing.
If you’re constipated, this may be a good way to get things moving a bit, but as far as detoxing and weight loss go, I don’t think this tea is the right option unfortunately.
Side Effects
I felt really exhausted. I was using the bathroom entirely too often.
I gained weight and became really bloated after finishing this tea. These side effects weren’t too pleasant let me tell ya.
I was also very dehydrated and constantly felt thirsty!
Price/Value
Hey Girl Cleanse is $21.49 per bag, which works out to $2.15 per day. That’s more expensive than your average detox tea, and in my opinion, not worth the money.
One weird thing is they don’t accept payments online through their website… um what? When you get to the checkout, it says to contact them to complete your purchase. So I’d save yourself the hassle and just purchase through Amazon; I’m not even sure if they really sell it on their actual website.
Guarantee
On Amazon, they have a 60-day money back guarantee, which is actually amazing. I like that they stand behind their products and give you a whole two months to test it out and decide if you like it.
I couldn’t find any guarantee on their website however, only on Amazon.
Their guarantee is really the only reason I ranked them 2 out of 5 stars instead of 1 out of 5.
